Safety is a defining part of the DuPont culture. During our 200 years in business, DuPont has produced, sold and consumed some of the most hazardous materials known to the chemical industry (hydrogen cyanide, chlorine, oleum, and hydrogen fluoride) with excellent safety performance. The company has been able to build on its knowledge from safe handling of chemicals to nuclear and biological hazards.

This focus continues today as DuPont is one of the world's safest industrial companies with 90,000 employees, and an incident level 11 times less than the industry average. DuPont ships thousands of tons of chemicals around the world every year, yet for the past 16 years, our emergency teams have responded to incidents without a single lost-work injury.

While the number of DuPont incidents has steadily decreased, DuPont continues to respond to customer and community calls for safe incident handling. Those calls now make up more than 35% of DuPont responses.

Experienced Emergency Response Training

This shift to external response has helped DuPont shape training seminars that meet the needs of the community with our extensive knowledge of chemical, biological and nuclear hazards. Since 1985, more than 83,000 people in more than 860 cities in 20 different countries have received DuPont Emergency Response Training. These participants include firefighters, police, EMS, medical personnel, industrial responders, and 10 Federal Government Agencies.

DuPont Emergency Response Solutions™ training focuses on keeping these responders safe when handling a variety of incidents. This practical, experienced-based approach to training is provided through live seminars, hands-on simulations, and self-paced training software. Courses meet or exceed OSHA, NFPA and EPA Guidelines.

Flexible and Customized Training

The DuPont Emergency Response Solutions™ training team will bring these seminars to your location — eliminating travel expense and lost work time, while allowing your team to train together. Training can be scheduled to fit your situation, giving flexibility for "off-hours" learning. We can combine and focus specific topics to help your organization achieve individual training objectives. DuPont core safety values are woven into every course with emphasis on keeping responders safe.

Hands-on work can be done at your location using all the latest equipment and addressing a variety of response situations. DuPont has fully-equipped training trucks that bring a full array of training materials to your location for a variety of realistic simulations.

Response Experienced and Certified Trainers

The training is created and staffed by DuPont certified response team members. When not responding to internal and external HAZMAT calls, these professionals instruct classes. The learning is strengthened by instructors sharing their own experiences, as well as demonstrating methods for operating safely in hazardous situations. All DuPont instructors are NFPA Tier I and II certified. Many of our instructors also volunteer their time to their community fire and emergency departments.
